Betting on Baseball at Sportsbook.com
by Sportsbook.com
Sportsbook.com is proud to offer its bettors the best value in baseball and it all starts with Dime Lines on most baseball games, every day.
For those not familiar with Dime Lines, we'll explain them right now and give you some other insight into baseball betting.
What is a Dime Line?
Dime Lines, also known as a 10-cent line, are offered on most regular season games and can be considered Reduced Juice for money line odds.
When you win, you win more. When you lose, you lose less. Over a long season, that can amount to significant savings for a bettor. It'll also amount to even bigger winnings when you parlay two, three or more picks into one bet.
Parlays always pay big and with Dime Lines, they pay even more!
With a Dime Line, there is only a 10-cent money line difference between the favorite and the underdog, compared to a 20 or 30-cent line at other books. Since most baseball betting is done on the money line, a smart baseball bettor should only lay money with a book offering Dime Lines.
Here's a look at how, whether you bet the underdog or favorite, you'll get a better deal with Dime Lines.
10-Cent Line
Cubs -110
Brewers even
20-Cent Line
Cubs -125
Brewers +105
No matter which side you're on, the 10-cent line is by far the best value and that's why Sportsbook.com is the best value in baseball betting.
How to Bet
If you know how to bet on football or basketball than this is old hat. Pick your teams and place your bets just like any other sport.
If you're new to betting, we'll explain.
Money Line
Money line odds are the favorite among baseball bettors. Simply pick the team you think will win and you'll win your bet if they do.
Money line odds are easy to understand. The favorite will be marked minus, the underdog positive. For an example, we'll use the same odds as above:
Money Line
Cubs -120
Brewers +110
The Cubs are the favorite in this game and -120 means it will take a $120 bet to win $100. On the other hand, since the Brewers are an underdog, it will take a $100 bet to win $110.
Run Line
The spread in baseball is referred to as the Run Line and is always 1.5 runs. The favorite will be marked -1.5, the underdog +1.5.
If you bet the favorite, they must win by two or more runs for you to win your bet. If you chose to back the underdog, they must win or lose by just one run for you to collect your cash.
Run Line
Cubs -1.5 (+130)
Brewers +1.5 (-120)
If the final score of this game was 6-5 for the Cubs, all bettors that backed the Brewers would win. Brewers bettors would also win if the Brewers won outright.
If the score ended 6-3 for the Cubs, then all Run Line bettors that put money on the Cubs would win their bets.
The price in parentheses is the cost of the bet with the favorite usually paying better odds. In this case, a $100 bet on the Cubs would net $130 while it would take a $120 bet on the Brewers to score $100.
Total
Every baseball gives bettors a chance to wager on the combined number of runs scored for each team. This is referred to as a Total and is commonly called the 'Over/Under' by a number of bettors.
For totals, oddsmakers will set a number and you simply wager on whether the teams will combine to score more or less runs. If you think they will go over the total set by oddsmakers, bet the Over. If you think the teams will score less than the number given, bet the Under.
Total
Cubs vs. Brewers
Over/Under 9.5
If the final score of this game is 7-5, all bettors that wagered Over would win as the two teams combined for 12 runs, which is more than the 9.5.
However, if the game ended 6-1, that's only 7 runs scored and Under bettors would win.
Typically, a bettor must bet $110 to win $100 on a Total wager, unless otherwise marked.
